Writers Round Table NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year

Now we bring you round two of the Sportsbook Veteran 2009 NFL Predictions writer’s roundtable. This time we make out predictions for the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Who will be named the 2009 NFL Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year?

Bill McTavish – Marc Sanchez – Matt Stanford was picked first really all that means when it comes to rookie of the year voting is that he has the worst team to work with. That’s why I’m taking the Jets Marc Sanchez. Sanchez has a solid defense, a nice running game and if the rumors are true the Jets will be making a trade or two to acquire another top-flight receiver to make Sanchez’s transition to the NFL easier.

Ethan Cade – Glen Coffee – Again with the easy choice Bill, you might want to take a risk once and a while. Speaking of risks, I’m going to put my money behind Glen Coffee who at 20/1 could represent a nice payday at the end of the year. Coffee is the number two back in San Francisco but word around the NFL is that Mike Singletary plans to run Frank Gore and Coffee on a 17 to 6 split but with Coffees speed and how he’s impressed so far I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a 50:50 split by the middle of the season.

Delroy Jones – Percy Harvin – Has anyone mentioned Brett Favre yet? I know my man Chuck has Adrian Peterson pegged as the MVP and if AP puts up huge numbers that will mean one thing, a lot of open tosses for one of the most versatile WRs to come out in years. Harvin played both WR and RB at Florida, so don’t be surprised if you see him in the backfield with Peterson on a few plays a game. Favre to Harvin….Touchdown will be something we hear a lot of this season.

Chuck Holmes – “Chris Beanie” Wells – Wells comes into the perfect situation, it’s not often a rookie running back can step into the starting lineup for a conference champion. Coach Whisenhunt says Tim Hightower might start week one. He had better enjoy it because it will be the last time this season. If Well can prove himself a worth receiver in the Cards pass happy offence it will cement him into a starting role and the rookie of the year award.

Thanks guys next up we’ll get your picks for the NFC Divisional and Conference Champions
