Writers Round Table – NFL MVP
With the 2009 NFL Regular Season less than two weeks away, The Sportsbook Veteran writers have come together for a writer’s round table. We hope to shed some light on the upcoming season and what we can expect. The first series we will look at the individual player awards.
Who will be the 2009 NFL MVP?
Bill McTavish – Tom Brady – Terrific Tom is coming back healthy, people don’t expect a player who missed a season with an injury to return with a big season but if you look at Carson Palmer and Philip Rivers both players went through severe knee injuries and put up huge numbers once they were healthy. All signs point to Brady being healthy.
Ethan Cade – Drew Brees – Bill thanks for taking the easy choice, way to go out on a limb. Brees has all the tools to have another HUGE offensive season, what will win him the MVP is a Saints D that has vastly improved so the Saints won’t have to put up 35 points to win this season but don’t expect that to stop them from running up the score.
Delroy Jones – Donovan McNabb – All the focus has been on the return of Mike Vick but if you look at McNabb and ignore him saying what he’s supposed to say, he’s burning up inside. The Eagles are his team and with Vick ready to take his job in a minute, McNabb will be playing with an intense fire inside. Every “We want Vick” chant from the Philly crowd will be like throwing gasoline on the flames.
Chuck Holmes – Adrian Peterson – Favre, Favre, Favre, Ok; I had to get that out. Opponents would put eight in the box to slow down AP but he still ran for 1760 yards. This year they have a QB who keep defense honest. Pack the box and Favre will air one out to Bernard Berrian or Percy Harvin. If Favre has a great season it will be because of AP not the other way around.
Thanks guys next up we’ll get your picks for the Associated Press Defensive Player of the Year
