Weird Wild and Wacky Week 6
When I was about to place my bets today, I thought, “What the hell do I do here?” There weren’t to many bets on the board that just jumped out and screamed winner. The over in the Giants-Saints and the Patriots covering the 9.5 points but beyond that I didn’t know what to expect and after the games were finished things didn’t go as many of us would have expected.
Tennessee 0
New England 59
What we expected – We expected the Patriots to exploit the Titans poor cornerback situation and easily win the game.
What we didn’t expect – Records, lots of records; the biggest halftime lead in league history, 5 touchdowns in one quarter, tie for the largest margin of victory since the NFL-AFL merger. The Patriots showed the dominance and killer attitude they had in 2007.
NY Giants 27
New Orleans 48
What we expected – We expected a high scoring competitive game.
What we didn’t expect – A Saints blowout, Drew Brees and company scored early and often. The Giants had no answer as 7 different Saints scored touchdowns.
Detroit 0
Green Bay 26
What we expected –We expected Detroit to be competitive most of the game before allowing Green Bay to lock up the win late.
What we didn’t expect – A return of the bad news Lions as they were forced to use third string quarterback Drew Stanton and play without Calvin Johnson. Unable to get the ball in the end zone the Lions didn’t stand a chance.
Houston 28
Cincinnati 17
What we expected – A close game with the Bengals pulling it out in the final minutes.
What we didn’t expect – Houston to put the game out of reach in the 3rd quarter and keep the Bengals from scoring in the 4th quarter.
Baltimore 31
Minnesota 33
What we expected – A hungry Baltimore team to challenge the Vikings in a close game.
What we didn’t expect – Baltimore to trail by 17 and then rally to take the lead with under 4 minutes left. Ok when it happened we expected it, Brett Favre marched the Vikings into field goal range and Ryan Longwell to kick the Vikings to the win.
Philadelphia 9
Oakland 13
What we expected – We expected Philadelphia to join the list of teams in embarrassing the Raiders this season.
What we didn’t expect – Donovan McNabb to look human and JaMarcus Russell to look like a starting quarterback. McNabb completed less than 50% of his passes and the Raiders put sacked him 6 times.
Buffalo 16
NY Jets 13
What we expected – Mark Sanchez and the Jets to rebound from their disappointment in Miami
What we didn’t expect – Mark Sanchez to throw 5 interceptions and finish with a quarterback rating of 8.3 as the Bills beat the Jets in overtime.
Here are the rest of Sunday’s scores
Kansas City 14
Washington 6
St. Louis 20
Jacksonville 23
