Top Five Sleepers for the 2010 NFL Season
Top five Sleepers for the 2010 NFL Season
If you haven’t drafted your fantasy Team here are five players you should consider in the later rounds of your fantasy football draft. Our definition of a sleeper is a player that you can get later in the draft and a player that will outperform their draft position.
Last season we had Michael Bush, Knowshon Moreno and Ray Rice as our sleeper fantasy picks for the 2009 fantasy football season. We’ll call it 1-1-1, Ray Rice was brilliant, Moreno was average and Michael Bush was a year away. Let’s have a look at our top sleeper picks this season.
Michael Bush – Oakland Raiders
I know we had him on the list last season but trust me, this is the year that the former Louisville Cardinal has a breakout season with the Raiders. The Raiders other backs are hurting and Bush has too much talent not to succeed if he gets enough touches. The addition of Jason Campbell gives the Raiders a passing game for the first time in a long time. This will force opposing defenses to defend against the pass, which will allow Bush more room to run than he had last season.
Davone Bess – Miami Dolphins
Bess is in his third year and now that the Dolphins have Brandon Marshall and not Ted Ginn Jr. on the other side. Bess will have a lot more opportunities to pick up yards. I’m not 100% sold on him being catching many touchdowns but he should approach a 1000 yards on the season.
CJ Spiller – Buffalo Bills
This is a sleeper that not many people are sleeping on anymore. We saw a glimpse of what Spiller can do with regular carries Thursday night against the Colts. Spiller gained 52 yards on 10 carries. With Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch both nursing injuries, Spiller could Wally Pip both of them by taking full control of the number one spot.
Bernard Berrian – Minnesota Vikings
Berrian is the number three receiver in Minnesota but with Percy Harvin puking on the sidelines and Sidney Rice dealing with hip troubles. Berrian could put up some huge numbers for his draft position. Favre is a thrower and he’ll need targets.
Dexter McCluster – KC Chiefs
You can get McCluster late in the draft, probably in the second last or last round. McCluster is a former running back that is being moved to the wide receiver position. While it might be a stretch to expect him to put up Percy Harvin type numbers but there are plenty of similarities, he can run the ball from the Wildcat, he can return kicks and catch the ball all over the field. I might even throw a couple of bucks down on McCluster to win the rookie of the year award.
