NFL Free Picks Week 2
NFL Free Picks Week 2
Are you ready for week two of the NFL season? Every year week one offers surprises and upsets. It’s really the toughest week to predict with week 17 being the second toughest. The Sportsbook Veteran expert was 8-7 against the spread with his two moneyline dogs coming through for the upset wins. We expect better results this week. We give you picks for every game but remember when you are betting its smart only place bets on 3 to 5 of your strongest picks. It’s often said the best bet is the bet you don’t place. Ok let’s get to this week’s NFL Free Picks
Oakland Raiders +3
Kansas City Chiefs -3
Both teams performed better than expected in week 1. The Chiefs were tied with the Ravens until the fourth and the Raiders suffered a heartbreaker losing in the final seconds to the Chargers. Matt Cassel should be under center for the Chiefs but I don’t think it will be enough this week. After watch the games week 1, the Raiders look like they are a step ahead in their rebuilding plans. Pick Raiders +3
Houston Texans +6½
Tennessee Titans -6½
The Texans failed to score an offensive touchdown against the Jets last week and the Titans D is a head and shoulders above the Jets D. I don’t see Houston fairing much better against Tennessee. The Titans -6½ looks good here.
New England Patriots -3½
New York Jets +3½
The Jets are supposed to be rebuilding, the Patriots are supposed to be Super Bowl contenders but after week 1, the Jets look like the darlings of the AFC East and the Patriots look like a team in trouble. If it weren’t for some Tom Brady magic, they would be on the bottom of the AFC East looking up. However, as I said early week 1 isn’t a good indicator for the rest of the season. Take the Pats -3½, if you can buy this line down to 3.
Cincinnati Bengals +9
Green Bay Packers -9
Chad Ochocinco is promising to do the Lambeau leap. Message to Chad Johnson Ochocinco you need to score a touchdown to do the leap. The Packers’ new 3-4 defensive scheme will cause Carson Palmer fits. The Packers win this game by a TD and a field goal. Take the Packers -9
Minnesota Vikings -10
Detroit Lions +10
Adrian Peterson is a beast. The Lions won’t have an answer for Peterson and rookie Percy Harvin. The Vikings win this in a walk. Pick the Vikings -10
New Orleans Saints pk
Philadelphia Eagles pk
Drew Brees is coming off a 6 TD performance…against the Lions. The Eagles D had the advantage of playing a shaky Jake Delhomme last week; they won’t have the same luxury this week against the Saints.
Pick the Saints
Carolina Panthers +6
Atlanta Falcons -6
John Fox is going to ride Jake Delhomme to the unemployment line. Atlanta has to be a little concerned about the run game but the passing game is where it should be. Delhomme will play much better against the Falcons. I’m going to predict the Panthers upset the Falcons. Take the Panthers +6
St Louis Rams +9½
Washington Redskins -9½
St. Louis looked bad versus the Seahawks and I don’t see it changing this week versus the Redskins but 9½ points is a lot of points to give up for the Redskins. I wouldn’t bet this game but I’ll pick St. Louis to keep in close. Rams +9½
Arizona Cardinals +3
Jacksonville Jaguars -3
The Cardinals had trouble when playing on the east coast last season. The Jaguars have shown they can shut down an explosive offense after a close loss to the Colts. Pick the Jaguars -3.
Seattle Seahawks +1½
San Francisco 49ers -1½
The Seahawks looked great against the Rams but these 49ers are not the Rams. Mike Singletary will have his team prepared to run the ball down the throats of Seattle. I’m going to take the rejuvenated Matt Hasselbeck and the Seahawks to win this game outright. Take Seattle +1½.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers +5
Buffalo Bills -5
The Bills were so close to a win last week it hurt. Tampa was far from a win in week 1. Trent Edwards will use Lee Evans and of course Terrell Owens to open up the game for Fred Jackson. The Bills will win this one by a couple touchdowns. Take the Bills -5
Cleveland Browns +3 +105
Denver Broncos -3 -125
Denver was predicted to finish near the bottom of the AFC but I think they will surprise in 2009. Kyle Orton is not flashy, he’s not a gunslinger but he wins games. Take the Broncos -3.
Baltimore Ravens +3
San Diego Chargers -3
Which Chargers team will show up? The team expected to go deep into the playoffs or the team that barely squeaked out a win in Oakland. The Ravens defense was a letdown last week but Joe Flacco and the offense picked them up nicely. This game will expose the Chargers liabilities. I’m taking the Ravens on the moneyline.
Pittsburgh Steelers -3 +105
Chicago Bears +3 -125
Gunslingers are shot sometimes, Jay Cutler looked awful last week and if he doesn’t settle down this week, it could signal a long season for the Bears. Take the Steelers -3
New York Giants +3 -125
Dallas Cowboys -3 +105
Tony Romo and Roy Williams seem to be on the same page, which means the Giants defense will be working overtime this week. If the Giants get down early to the Cowboys, Eli Manning doesn’t have the receivers to let the Giants get back in the game. Take the Cowboys -3
Indianapolis Colts -3 -125
Miami Dolphins +3 +105
It only took a season for NFL defenses to figure out the Wildcat. I think it’s safe to say the Wildcat is dead. The Colts let Marvin Harrison go and now they have lost Anthony Gonzalez for 8 weeks, so they will have to rely on the running game a little more. The Colt won’t blow out the Dolphins but they will win by more than 3. Pick the Colts -3.
Thanks for the Jets and 49ers Moneyline picks last week. Cashed in…NIIIIIIIIIICE
