NFC Regular Season Win Totals and Predictions
2009 NFL Regular Season Wins – Arizona Cardinals
Over 8½ regular season wins +100
Under 8½ regular season wins -120
Ethan Cade – The Cardinals won 9 last season and went to the Super Bowl and 9 is very doable for the NFC Champs but they have to hope Kurt Warner has another MVP Season in him.
2009 NFL Regular Season Wins – Atlanta Falcons
Over 8½ regular season wins +120
Under 8½ regular season wins -140
Bill McTavish – The addition on Tony G. will add a lot to the Falcons passing game, Matt Ryan will have a solid short route option and Michael Turner won’t have to run until his legs fall off.
2009 NFL Regular Season Wins – Carolina Panthers
Over 8½ regular season wins +105
Under 8½ regular season wins -145
Ethan Cade – There are only so many wins to go around in the NFC South and the Saints and Falcons look to take a lot of them. Carolina will have trouble winning half of their games in 2009.
2009 NFL Regular Season Wins – Chicago Bears
Over 8½ regular season wins -165
Under 8½ regular season wins +145
Bill McTavish – The Bears have a Pro-Bowl quarterback for the first time since the 80’s. They are in the same situation as the Panthers; sharing a division with 2 other teams with potential to do big things. 9 wins is not out of the question but there are much better values on the board.
2009 NFL Regular Season Wins – Dallas Cowboys
Over 9½ regular season wins +120
Under 9½ regular season wins -150
Ethan Cade – The NFC East is going to have at least two very disappointed teams, every team feels they have what it takes to take the crown. I think the ‘Boys will be one of those disappointments. Under 9½ wins looks nice.
2009 NFL Regular Season Wins – Detroit Lions
Over 4½ regular season wins -145
Under 4½ regular season wins +125
Ethan Cade – I wouldn’t bet on this line but I will predict the Lions win more games than they did last season, maybe even four games more but not five.
2009 NFL Regular Season Wins – Green Bay Packers
Over 8½ regular season wins -140
Under 8½ regular season wins +120
Bill McTavish – The Packers are Aaron Rodgers team, Rodgers has looked confident in the preseason. The D is solid and the offense will be explosive add it up and you should get 10 or 11 wins.
2009 NFL Regular Season Wins – Minnesota Vikings
Over 9½ regular season wins -115
Under 9½ regular season wins -105
Ethan Cade – If you hadn’t already heard the Vikings signed a new QB. If Favre can accept his role in the run dominated offence the Vikings could be on their way to the NFC title game or further.
2009 NFL Regular Season Wins – New Orleans Saints
Over 8½ regular season wins -140
Under 8½ regular season wins +120
Bill McTavish – The Saints look good, the defense has improved enough so the offense doesn’t have to put up 35 points a game to win but with Brees at the helm, they Saints will score 35 whether they need the points or not.
2009 NFL Regular Season Wins – New York Giants
Over 9½ regular season wins -140
Under 9½ regular season wins +120
Ethan Cade – The Giants have a hell of a rushing game and a fearsome defense but the difference between 2008 and 2009 is Eli Manning won’t have a reliable target after Plaxico Burress was sent to prison. This team will should still win 10 but not many more.
2009 NFL Regular Season Wins – Philadelphia Eagles
Over 9½ regular season wins -155
Under 9½ regular season wins +135
Bill McTavish – Michael Vick will loom large in the mind of Donovan McNabb, McNabb will put up MVP numbers to keep Vick off the field. Take the over 9½ wins.
2009 NFL Regular Season Wins – San Francisco 49ers
Over 7 regular season wins -130
Under 7 regular season wins +110
Bill McTavish – 7 wins is bang on for the 49ers, no more, no less. They have a dependable defense and a solid run game but to expect a big leap over last season is too much to ask.
2009 NFL Regular Season Wins – Seattle Seahawks
Over 8 regular season wins -150
Under 8 regular season wins +130
Ethan Cade – The Seahawks are in need of a rebuild, with Hasselbeck, Walter Jones, Patrick Kerney and Dionne Branch all on the downward side of their career. This year has to be better than last but 8-8 is more likely than 9-7.
2009 NFL Regular Season Wins – St Louis Rams
Over 5½ regular season wins -155
Under 5½ regular season wins +135
Bill McTavish – The Rams have made some nice moves to help build their core for the future but don’t expect a Dolphins or Falcons type turn around. 6 wins is possible but I wouldn’t pay -155 for the privilege to bet it.
2009 NFL Regular Season Wins – Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Over 6½ regular season wins +150
Under 6½ regular season wins -170
Ethan Cade – Out with the old and in with the new. From the top down, the Bucs are a different team. Winslow and Ward are great additions and Byron Leftwich under center will ensure a veteran presence. But the Bucs will languish at the bottom of the standings in 2009 so under 6½ is the right side of the line here.
2009 NFL Regular Season Wins – Washington Redskins
Over 8½ regular season wins +130
Under 8½ regular season wins -150
Ethan Cade – In the Ultracompetitive NFC East the Redskins are the odds on favorite to finish last and last place teams don’t win 9 games.
