MLB Player to Watch – Jason Heyward
MLB Player to Watch – Jason Heyward
It’s been a while since a rookie has created this much hype in spring training. Jason Heyward is garnering the same hype that Albert Pujols did in 2001 or Ken Griffey Jr. in 1989. It remains to be seen whether the 6’4 245lbs Braves prospect will live up to the buzz he is creating but Jason Heyward will get the opportunity to prove himself. Today Bobby Cox all but confirmed Jason Heyward would be the Braves opening day right fielder.
In Grapefruit League play, he is batting .417 and has routinely damaged cars in the parking lot of the Braves practice facility with his batting practice bombs. He remains humble even as his coaches and teammates sing his praises, when asked about Bobby Cox’s praise, Heyward responded “They say that to you because you’re asking the questions. (Bobby Cox) knows what you guys want to ask him.”
