How the Swear Jar Was Filled or My Worst Draft Ever
My fantasy draft update is a little late because I’m still in shock over what I allowed to happen. My laptop died the day before my draft and I thought no problem I still have my Acer Netbook, I’ll do the draft on that.

The Acer Aspire with the 10.1-inch screen is not big enough to display the entire Yahoo.com draft room.
When I discover this I had to add about $34 to the family swear jar. I was barely able to see the players still available, not horrible but still manageable.
If you didn’t already know Costa Rica, only 10 degrees above the equator, can get a little warm AND if you don’t have keep your computer on a hard flat surface the fan will not be able to cool it enough to keep it functional. If you sit your Netbook on flannel couch pillow while the temperature is 35 degrees Celsius, bad things happen. My computer over heated and the family swear jar now has enough for cover a 3-night stay in a Vegas hotel.
I was left to rely on the draft computer to make my selections for me. Why does technology hate me? I was drafting in the 12th spot, which gave me two picks together, and then I would have to wait until the 36th pick for my next selection. Considering the technical issues, I was happy to get Larry Fitzgerald and Tom Brady with my first two selections but that left me waiting 23 picks until I could grab my first running back. The computer selected two players I’m high on but unfortunately, I likely would have been able to grab Derrick Ward in a later round.
- (12) Larry Fitzgerald
- (13) Tom Brady
- (36) Jonathan Stewart
- (37) Derrick Ward
- (60) Roy Williams
- (61) Tony Gonzalez
- (84) Torry Holt
- (85) Lance Moore
- (108) Jared Allen
- (109) Steve Breaston
- (132) New England
- (133) Fred Jackson
- (156) Mason Crosby
- (157) Ahmad Bradshaw
- (180) JaMarcus Russell
Brady will be a stud it’s doubtful he’ll throw 50 again but anything less than 30 would be a huge disappointment. I’m going to have to trade my way out of this mess of not having a true stud running back. If Roy Williams develops some chemistry with Tony Romo, I will try to package him and possibly Steve Breaston for a top 10 running back. Breaston’s value could go through the roof if Anquan Boldin is traded and he slides into the number 2 receiver spot next to Larry Fitzgerald. Those are two big ifs but when you rely on the computer to select your team you’ll often have to pray to the fantasy football gods to get you out of that mess. If those prayers aren’t answered, we might upgrade from the Golden Nugget to the Palms. So really, it’s win-win.
