Hot 5 Not 5 – NBA Edition
W L ATS O / U
1. Miami 6 1 6-1-0 1-6-0
In what was supposed to be a throw away year for the Heat, Miami is off to the best start in franchise history. If you have been riding the Heat betting picks you have made some nice money. The under is the play to make if you are betting the Heats totals.
2. Atlanta 5 2 6-1-0 5-2-0
The Hawks don’t get the hype of the big three teams in the East but if you’ve been betting on the NBA Hawks, your wallet is getting fat. The Hawks 6-1 record against the spread is tied for number one in the league.
3. Houston 4 3 5-2-0 6-1-0
Like we mentioned last week it’s good to bet the teams that are better than they are perceived and the Houston Rockets are still beating expectations, at least against the spread. Their games are high scorers, the over has been a solid bet in the Rockets first seven games this season.
4. Milwaukee 3 2 4-1-0 0-5-0
The Bucks have proven themselves a tough beat on most nights, that tough play has earned them a 4-1 ATS record this season and their solid defense has kept every game under the total.
5. Charlotte 3 4 5-2-0 3-4-0
The Bobcats are under .500 straight up but had 5 straight ATS wins bookended between 2 losses. Do I think they’ll stay in the Hot 5? Short answer no.

1. Philadelphia 3 4 2-5-0 3-4-0
The Elton Brand signing is slowly moving towards bust status as the 76ers under perform in the standings and against the spread.
2. Utah 3 4 2-5-0 4-3-0
Speaking of disappointments the Utah are underwhelming this season, unlike betting on teams that are better than they are perceived. The Jazz are a team who aren’t as good as people believe so fading them will make you some money.
3. New Jersey 0 7 2-5-0 2-5-0
Lawrence Frank better dust off that resume, I think he’ll stick around until the new owner is in place as I can’t see them hiring a replacement and then another after the Nets change owners.
4. Washington 2 6 2-6-0 1-7-0
So much for the return of Hibachi, Agent Zero, Gilbert Arenas as his mom calls him. The Wiz have been a good fade NBA betting pick. They lack of scoring punch has kept the totals under 7 of 8 times.
5. New York 1 7 2-6-0 4-4-0
I’ve heard Eddy Curry has slimmed down and will be ready to rejoin the Knicks, I think that just gives me more reasons to bet against the boys from NYC.
