Derek Anderson Says What We’re All Thinking

The Cleveland Browns cut starting quarterback Derek Anderson just days before a $2 Million dollar roster bonus was to be paid out. Usually when this happens, the player says all the right things, thanks the city and the fans. The player will add in a quote about “its part of the business” and “I’m sad to be leaving a great franchise” before heading off to another team or another line of work. But this week
Derek Anderson broke the mold of how a cut player is supposed to react, Anderson had this message for the franchise and the fans sent through an email to a local Cleveland paper.

“The fans are ruthless and don’t deserve a winner, I will never forget getting cheered when I was injured. I know at times I wasn’t great. I hope and pray I’m playing when my team comes to town and (we) roll them. I never heard from anyone until today, Nobody ever tried to reach out to me, which is fine.”

Anderson was referring to the game against the Colts where he was tackled and tore his ACL, the fans cheered while he was writhing on the ground in pain.

I for one am looking forward to Anderson’s first game against the Browns, of course I don’t know if Anderson will be a starting quarterback in the NFL anytime soon, his poor play with the Browns should relegate him to a backup role for a season or two.
