Congratulations Pittsburgh You Suck

pirates-suckYou can blame it on the curse of Barry Bonds or just chalk it up to horrible ownership but congratulations Pittsburgh Pirates you have set the standard for consistently fielding an awful team. It’s been 17 years since you have had a winning record; it’s something no other North American professional team can claim.

To put that in perspective tennis teen sensation Melanie Oudin was celebrating her first birthday when the Pirates last had a winning season.

Barry Bonds was 185lbs in 1992, when he retired his weight was listed at 238lbs and his hat size grew just as much.  Bonds also hit 586 more homeruns after the Pirates let him leave via free agency.

The best picture in 1992 was Silence of the Lambs and Whitney Houston had the number one song with I will Always Love you.

Since 1992, the Yankees have played in six World Series and the Red Sox ended an 86-year drought winning the title twice. The Penguins and Steelers have won multiple titles.

It’s a sad day for the once proud Pirates, I wonder if they can clone Honus Wagner, Barry Bonds, Paul Waner, Pie Traynor and Willie Stargell.

Even though the Pirates have given up on baseball it doesn’t mean you have to, check out the latest World Series Odds courtesy of Bodog.com
