Best Early Super Bowl Commercials
The Best Super Bowl Commercials
I love commercials, I know it sounds ridiculous but I can appreciate a company’s attempt to make me buy their product. Do you remember K-Tel? They sold those compilation records and 8-tracks, yes I remember 8-tracks. They would be selling disco hits of the 70’s or AM Gold the best music from AM Radio. I used to laugh at those until one night, it was rather late, I was watching them pitch a hip-hop old school compilation. I was damn close to buying it. I’ve become the guy I used to laugh at, next stop is an old folks home that plays Jay-Z Muzak.
I digress
With Super Bowl 44 happening on February 7, we will see a whole new crop of companies trying to influence our buying decisions. Before that, let’s have a look at some of the best from Super Bowl’s gone by.
Gillette Techmatic Razor (1970)
Joe Namath gets creamed (1973)
Early Miller Lite with Bert Jones and LC Greenwood
Orson Welles says “we will sell no wine before it’s time” then proceeded to eat the glass bottle and half of the set.
The 1984 Super Bowl had two classics which I still consider two of the best ever.
The poor lady just wants her beef so where’s the beef?
And Apple computers capitalized on George Orwell’s classic novel 1984 in their classic commercial.
On a side note, with everyone glued to their iPhones, Apple made sure 2010 would be like 1984.
