2010 NFL MVP Odds

NFL MVP Odds

The 2010 NFL season kicks off this Thursday with an exciting NFC matchup between the Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints and the NFC North champion Minnesota Vikings. The game features three MVP candidates on our odds to win the NFL MVP.

Drew Brees is the second favorite at 17/2 behind Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers has been the hot pick by everyone this preseason. When we released the first set of odds, Rodgers was offering very good value at 12/1 but heavy action has moved Rodgers down to 5/1 to win the NFL MVP.

The other candidates in the Thursday opener are Adrian Peterson at 15/1 and Favre XX at 18/1, if you throw money down on Brett Favre to win the MVP, you are wasting your money. He’s not going to win.

I was going to join the pack and pick Aaron Rodgers as the 2010 NFL MVP because the Green Bay offense looks ridiculously good and they should run away with the NFC north this season. But I feel it’s a cop out if I pick the favorite.

Chris Johnson at 10/1 is not a bad choice but with Vince Young on the team, Johnson won’t get all the credit if the Titans have a great season, even if Johnson puts up another huge season.

Tom Brady at 12/1 is nice value, he just signed or is about to sign a nice extension but his wide out Randy Moss is looking for respect and should put up huge numbers this season. Because WRs never win the MVP award, Tom Brady could be the beneficiary of Randy Moss’ huge season.  For those interested, Randy Moss is paying out at 40/1 to win the NFL MVP.

Peyton Manning is always a contender and with the emergence of Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie, he has even more weapons this season. I don’t think we’ll be surprised with the NFL MVP, so if you bet the long shots, you’ll be wasting your money.
