NFL Power Rankings After Week 1
1. Pittsburgh Steelers – I think we can finally put it to rest that the Steelers are a running team but with Big Ben’s arm and that D, I’m sure they’ll be alright.
2. New England Patriots – For 55 minutes they looked abysmal, well normal, then Brady worked his magic. They still have a lot of questions to answer but the Brady mystery is solved.
3. New York Giants – Even without a passing game the Giants look like a winner.
4. Philadelphia Eagles – The Eagles have 3 quarterbacks on their roster with 12 pro-bowl appearances and none of them are starting this Sunday.
5. Indianapolis Colts – The running game needs to be addressed but Marvin Harrison hasn’t been missed so far.
6. San Diego Chargers – The Raiders always play the Chargers tough, so I wouldn’t worry about how close the finish was. LT should worry about Darren Sproles taking his job though.
7. Atlanta Falcons – Only 3.0 yards per carry for Michael Turner; the 370 curse lives. T-Gonz looked great though.
8. Minnesota Vikings – Percy Harvin had more and Adrian Peterson had a lot more; both players had more combined yards than Brett Favre in week 1.
9. Green Bay Packers – The Packers would have lost this game in 2008, the 2009 Packers have a lot more wins in them.
10. Baltimore Ravens – For the first time in, well ever, the Ravens can rely on their offense to win games. It’s early but Joe Flacco looks like a pro-bowler.
11. Tennessee Titans – They lost a tough one to the defending champions but this was just a warm up for a meeting in January.
12. New Orleans Saints – Sure it was the Lions and they gave up 27 but the 45 they scored let’s us ignore the defensive shortcomings for now.
13. Dallas Cowboys – Terrell Who?
14. Seattle Seahawks – The Seahawks show signs of life and could make some noise in the west.
15. Chicago Bears – Kyle Orton 1 – Jay Cutler 0
16. New York Jets – Mark Sanchez had a great first game and Rex Ryan is no Eric Mangini…thankfully.
17. San Francisco 49ers – Shaun Hill has as many wins as a 49er starter as every other SF QB since Jeff Garcia.
18. Arizona Cardinals – When the highlight of your game is Kurt Warner thanking Jesus for not giving up a 3rd pick, your work is cutout for week 2.
19. Miami Dolphins – Defenses are figuring out the wildcat. Let’s hope the Dolphins have another gimmick play up their sleeve.
20. Washington Redskins – Jim Zorn is looking for a job in five…four…three…
21. Buffalo Bills – Ouch, it’s not quite as painful as ‘wide right’ but Leodis McKelvin gave the Bills fans something else to cringe about.
22. Carolina Panthers – John Fox is sticking with Jake Delhomme; Delhomme has a contract with 20 million guaranteed, John Fox not so much.
23. Houston Texans – Will the Texans score an offensive TD this week, I say no and Jeff Fisher agrees with me.
24. Denver Broncos – Kyle Orton 1 – Jak…The play was amazing, Brandon Stokely played Franco Harris for a day but these Broncos will never be confused for the Steelers
25. Jacksonville Jaguars – They kept it close versus the Colts, hopefully Jacksonville fans will get to see more.
26. Cincinnati Bengals – The Defense did its part. Carson Palmer and the offence have a ways to go.
27. Oakland Raiders – Richard Seymour was worth the wait, the Raiders stopped LT cold, Darren Sproles is another story.
28. Cleveland Browns – Defense was horrible and the ditto the offense. Next up a winnable game versus the Broncos.
29. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Cadillac Williams is back, except for three big plays the defense played the Cowboys well.
30. Kansas City Chiefs – They were double-digit underdogs against the and kept it within single digits until the final minutes.
31. Detroit Lions – The Lions battled but they didn’t have the firepower to compete with the Saints, next up Adrian Peterson and the Vikings. The Lions should get a win after their bye week when they face the…
32. St. Louis Rams – The Rams will occupy this spot most of the season, when you fans are calling for Kyle Boller things are bad, very bad.
